Synopsis
In part 2 theatre and opera director Peter Sellars works with a multi-racial cast on his new production of The Merchant of Venice, in which Venice becomes Venice Beach, LA and Belmont is transformed into Bel Air. The experimental version casts a black Shylock, a Chinese Portia and a Latino Antonio and Bassanio. The production came to the Barbican Theatre, London in November 1994.
