Synopsis: A homosexual geography teacher is forced to hide his sexuality by day while living his secret life by night. Hugely controversial on its initial release, Nighthawks was one of the first British movies to accurately depict the life of a gay man in London.
The VHS, but not the DVD, also includes the film WHAT CAN I DO WITH A MALE NUDE.
DVD extras: Two featurettes and an eight-page booklet including biographies of directors Peck and Hallam and a new essay by Andy Townsend. The first featurette, entitled NIGHTHAWKS REVISITED is a 30-minute piece in which Matt Lucas interviews many of the film’s main players. providing an overview of the film’s production and its reaction. The second piece (35 minutes) covers Peck’s approach to improvisation and includes an alternative take from the film as well as rare test footage for EMPIRE STATE, Peck’s second feature made in 1987.
