Elevated Work Platforms Part 2: Safe Operation

Synopsis: Construction companies, utilities and local authorities use a wide variety of Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs). General industry also utilise EWP’s for repair and maintenance work. The main types of EWP are: Boom devices (e.g. cherry pickers); Scissor lifts; Vertical lift devices. The main safety principles in respect of these EWPs are covered in this video and in Part 1(Pre-operation Checks, Safety Equipment and Controlled Descent).

This video looks in detail at the pre-operation checks which should be made of an EWP prior to use. Choosing an appropriate EWP for your particular work situation, correct use and maintenance of safety equipment and controlled descent procedures are also covered in detail.
