Synopsis
Over the past three decades reports of the condition known as ‘Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome’ have increased at an alarming rate. This condition commonly includes painful and potentially debilitating injury to the fingers, known as ‘white finger’. There is no known cure for this disease, so it is vital to understand how to reduce the risks of falling victim to it. In this programme the symptoms of white finger are detailed. Risk factors such as use of vibrating hand tools and exposure to cold are covered and simple, practical risk control measures are demonstrated.

The best way to fight this condition is to avoid getting it in the first place, but limiting exposure to the factors that lead to it.
