Preventing Diseases from Sewage

Synopsis
Aimed at employees who regularly work with sewage, sewage sludge and polluted waters. The programme identifies the risks employees are at from the many biological and chemical agents that inhabit sewage and water course systems.

Looks at the microorganisms that may be present in sewage and explains the symptoms and consequences of these viruses and how they can enter the body.
These microorganisms include: Polio, Tetanus, Hepatitis A, Salmonella; Weils Disease (or Leptospirosis. The video also looks at the hygiene rules that are designed to protect employees from infections, poisons and other ill health conditions associated with sewage, sewage sludge and polluted waters. By following these hygiene rules it is possible to work with sewage, sewage sludge and polluted waters with no risk to health.
