Properties of Gases

Synopsis
Introduces kinetic molecular theory and explains the relationships that exist between volume, density, pressure and temperture in gases. The video explains and demonstrates: how cellular respiration and photosynthesis keep levels of atmospheric oxygen and CO2 constant; how gases have physical properties in common (volume, density/molarity, pressure and temperature) which can be compared, even though they have different chemical properties; the mole as a unit of measurement, Avogadro’s Law, STP (standard pressure and temperature); the behaviour of gases according to the Ideal Gas Law; Boyle’s Law; Charles’ Law; an experiment to measure the production/consumpton of oxygen and CO2 during cellular respiration; how proper safety measures are essential in performing experiments with gases.
