What’s Special About Relativity?

Synopsis
Explains in simple terms the following: how physicists make measurements of position and distance using the three-dimensional Cartesian co-ordinate system to create a reference frame for measurement; 2) the ideas of inertia and the principle of relativity, that the laws of physics are true in all inertial reference frames; 3) the velocity of light is constant for all observers and is not affected by how fast the observer is traveling or by the law of addition of velocities of classical mechanics; 4)the concepts of relativity and simultaneity and space-time; 5) Lorentz’s theory of length of contraction and its effects on the measurements of moving objects, and the principle of time dilation; 6) the equation E = mc2 , suggesting how mass is a concentrated form of energy.
