Effective Cvs

Synopsis: Covers the presentation, structure and content of a CV, showing how to impress a prospective employer within the first 20 or 30 seconds that you have the specific skills, qualifications, achievements and experience they are looking for. Via three case histories, the video shows how to create a generic or general purpose CV; a career-specific CV, for when your’re applying for jobs solely in one industry or career;
a job-specific CV, for when you’re responding to a specific job advert. In each case the jobseeker’s existing CV, which hasn’t so far proved successful, is shown.

Each CV is reproduced in the Training Notes booklet with the intention that it is photocopied and handed out at the appropriate ‘Stop the Tape’ point in each case study for discussion purposes. Each of the three jobseekers then consults an employment adviser who provides a critique of each CV and advice as to how it can be improved, in terms of its presentation, content and structure.
