Title
Conduits
Synopsis
Demonstrates in detail the fabrication of two pieces of conduit: a saddle or bubble set combined with a double set; two right angle bends involving back-to-back measurements to fit between two loop-in boxes. The finished conduit is fitted into an overhead lighting circuit. The video points out the importance of using the correct tools which are in good working order, and measuring techniques. Key health and safety precautions are emphasised thorughout.
Duration
20 mins

Title
Cable Trunking and Trays
Synopsis
Demonstrates in detail the fabrication of a length of cable trunking and a length of cable tray, each with a slow bend of 90 degrees made from two 45 degree bends. The video points out the importance of using the correct tools, which are in good working order, and measuring techniques.
Duration
19 mins

Title
Installing Cables
Synopsis
Demonstrates in details the preparation and installation of three types of cable into a control box: FP200 cable; steel wire armoured cable; M.I. (mineral insulated cable). The use of stripping tools is shown. The video points out the importance of using the correct tools, which are in good working order. Key health and safety precautions are emphasised throughout.
Duration
24 mins

Title
Terminating Cables
Synopsis
Demonstrates in detail the termination of a range of cables using different types of compression tool: twin and earth cable connected to a fused isolator switch; pre-insulated terminals secured to cable ends by a hand operated compression tool; three-phase steel wire armoured cable using a hydraulic compression tool and a vice-held manual compression tool; a range of cables fitted into a bushbar chamber. The video points out the importance of using the correct tools, which are in good working order. Key health and safety precautions are emphasised throughout.
Duration
15 mins

Title
Inspection and Testing
Synopsis
Shows in detail the inspection and testing of an electrical installation. The video emphasises the importance of proving the instruments on a known supply prior to use. The testing of the instruments, voltage indicators and test lamps is shown. Before starting the inspection the main isolator switch is switched off, the locking key removed and a warning notice posted. The terminal box is opened and the circuit proved ‘dead’ by a test lamp which is itself proved. The video shows the following tests being carried out: continuity of protective conductors, test methods 1 and 2; continuity of ring final circuit conductors; polarity; insulation resistance; earth fault loop impedance; operaton of RCDs; current injection. The video points out the importance of using the correct test instruments. Key health and safety precautions are emphasised throughout.
Duration
23 mins

Title
Servicing a Motor and Starter
Synopsis
Motors - Demonstrates in detail the stripping down of a motor to replace a faulty component, in this case a bearing. It shows the opening of the motor, removal of the rotor and a visual inspection of the stator windings. After the new bearing has been fitted the motor is reassembled and the insulation resistance beween the stator windings and the body of the motor is tested.

Starters - The dismantling, disconnection and removal for servicing of a starter unit are shown. The contact points are inspected and reassembled and the coil is removed and checked for the correct voltage rating. After the starter has been reassembled and reconnected both the unit and the remote stop and start buttons are operated to test for correct function.

The video points out the importance of using the correct tools, which are in good working order. Key health and safety precautions are emphasised throughout.
