Phobia: A Case Study, Volume 1 Birds
- Alternative title
- Bird Phobia
- Synopsis
- For Rita her bird phobia had led to severe avoidance behaviour, affecting many aspects of her life and relationships. As a result she felt very depressed. This programme follows her successful treatment at the Cardinal Clinic using behavioural psychological techniques.
The DVD version provides additional information about why she became phobic and how it affected her life.
She is taught relaxation techniques and then gradually exposed to birds. Initially we see that even looking at pictures produces anxiety but by the end of treatment she is able to hold a number of birds and tells us that it is the happiest day of her life. - Language
