- Synopsis
- Eyewitness accounts reveal how a number of German medical doctors abandoned the idea of caring for the sick in the Third Reich. Intent on furthering the Nazi vision of a master Aryan race free from disease through selective breeding, they instead favoured a policy of racial cleansing that saw them carry out atrocities in the name of eugenics. By 1939, six years of Nazi rule had helped transform doctors into the murderers of 300,000 disabled people and psychiatric patients - the gas chambers were built to kill them. Includes the testimony of historians, one surviving Nazi doctor, the children of others, archive film. 26/03: The Deadly Experiment: The Nazi regime was eager to use genetic theory as a basis for their notions of racial supremacy and Aryan purity. Doctors were thus given a free rein to do as they pleased , leading to many of them to committing atrocities in the name of state-sanctioned medical research.
