Synopsis: A counselling training video designed for people whose may need to do some counselling as part of their job e.g. social workers, doctors, teachers, nurses, lawyers. probation officers,. housing officers, police officers, lecturers, managers, youth workers. It will also be useful for anyone in the early stages of counselling training.
Skills covered include listening questions, and empathic response. Examples are drawn from demonstration sessions showing good and bad practice. There is more to counselling skills than skills, however, and the video emphasises the need for self awareness on the part of the practitioner in two sections entitled ‘how we see other’ and
'how others see us’

The entire tape has a timecode running at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. By using this in conjunction with the accompanying booklet it’s easy to jump to a particular topic for further study.
