Roots and Water
- Synopsis
- The 3-part series ROOTS AND WATER features many of the poems prescribed for the AQA syllabus Poems from other Cultures and Traditions. Including readings of poetry and commentary by the poets themselves, the programmes help to illustrate the cultures which each of the poems reflects. They include film treatments of the poems, and each programme covers a second poem to complement the main poem, emphasising key themes and features of style. Featured poets are: Imtiaz Dharker, Grace Nichols, Sujata Bhatt, Tom Leonard, John Agard, Moniza Alvi, Fiona Farell, Arun Kolatkar, Kamau Braithwaite, and Tatamkhulu Afrika. The audiocassette features the poets reading their work.
