Freedom of Information: Understanding the Act and How to Manage It
- Synopsis
- Aims to help staff in Public Sector organisations understand and comply with the demands of the Freedom of Information Act when it comes into effect on 1 January 2005. Produced with the support of Masons Solicitors, specialists in FOI and information law.
Based around a fictitious television channel, the programme includes training modules that take the form of different TV programmes to help make the content more memorable and understandable. The six modules each deal with a different aspect of the Act, allowing training to be delivered in small, effective segments. The modules cover all aspects of the Act: an overview of the Freedom of Information Act, publication schemes and records management, handling a request, data protection, exemptions and Freedom of Information Act enforcement.
There are interactive questions at the end of each module to help check understanding and reinforce the learning. The programme also includes detailed legal learning points and other practical material to help users understand more and deal with specific queries. - Language
