Playing Unfair: The Media Image of the Female Athlete
- Synopsis
- A study of the sexism and homphobia that pervade US media coverage of female athletes. Sports media scholars examine the disparity between the success of female athletes and sports journalism’s often trivialised coverage of them. Concluding with an argument for new media images that fairly and accurately depict strengh and competence, the video invited discussion about the relationship between society, gender, and sport.
