Bolshoi Soloists Classique

Synopsis
A recently discovered live recording of the Bolshoi stars Nina Timofeyeva and Mikhail Lavrosky. Nina Timofeyeva first trained and performed at the Kirov Ballet, and then entered the Bolshoi Company in 1961, where she became a principal dancer for more than two decades. Her grace and perfect control shine through in this film, in which she also acts as choreographer.
Mikhail Lavrosky, son of the renowned choreogrpher Leonid Lavrosky, also entered the Bolshoi in 1961 and quickly rose to be the leading male dancer in most of their repertory. Lavrosky is known for his exceptional technique, as well as the heroic splenour and penetrating presence he brings to all his roles, from the Prince in Cinderella to Spartacus.
Extracts featured are from ‘The Dying Swan’ (choreographer M. Fokine); ‘Porgy and Bess’ (choreographer M. Lavrosky); ‘Adabio’ (choreographer N. Timofeyeva); ‘Pas de deux Classique’ (choreographer N. Timofeyeva).
