Title
Microscopy: Protozoa (Part 2)
Synopsis
This video lab focuses on phyla Ciliophora and Sporozoa, animals which illustrate the specialization needed by unicellular organisms to carry out all of the life processes. The Paramecium is examined in depth as are other ciliates such as Stentor, Vorticella and Blepharisma. Sporozoans, which are parasitic and nonmotile, are then examined. The best known sporozoan, Plasmodium-which causes the disease malaria-is examined.
