Synopsis
This video is a guide to best practice for care workers looking after people with Alzheimer’s disease. Includes interviews with care workers and people with the condition. The programme is in three parts:
Part one - covering diagnosis and symptoms. How Alzheimer’s will show in the person physically and mentally and how to distinguish these symptoms from other unrelated conditions.
Part two - the effects of medication. Drug treatment, the benefits and a comprehensive guide to possible side-effects.
Part three - all aspects of caring for the whole person. Creating an environment where individual attention and trust are cornerstones of best practice.
Presented by Dr Rosemary Leonard and written and directed by Dr Graeme Garden, the programme is designed to update the skills of practising care workers as well as training staff new to this important area.
