Saturday Night and Sunday Morning
- Synopsis
- Adapted by Alan Sillitoe from his novel about an angry young man. Arthur Seaton is a young labourer who just wants to get through the week and raise hell at the weekend. Albert Finney’s performance as the anti-hero is the prototype for alienated youth in social-realist films that followed. The film’s frank approach to sex and class trampled taboos and introduced audiences to a socially conscious, aggressively working class cinema.
