Synopsis: Provides an opportunity to observe staff in a busy office dealing with a range of everyday office activities. They are seen making phone calls, arranging meetings, briefing members of a team, discussing and planning a new project. The aim is to show the range of interpersonal skills and competencies required. The videos tell one, continuing story - that of organising the video production of THE OFFICE. Each video concentrates on a major aspect of the planning process as the pace quickens towards the first day of filming. Although each programme stands alone, the common theme of effective communication runs through them all. A learning pack consisting of 3 videos, a guide for lecturers and a 31-page video guide.

Synopsis: About the early preparations. People need to know who will be involved, what is the timescale, what needs to be done and who will do it. At the same time, the other routines of the office must carry on. Key skills covered include scheduling, questioning and telephoning.

Synopsis: Two new staff members are introduced to the team. The video concentrates on team building, sharing responsibilties and how everyone keeps a check on progress to make sure the project is working effectively.

Synopsis: Arrangements for the crucial production team meeting have been part of the first two videos. This video looks at the meeting itself, the immediate preparation of the room and the part played by each member of the group in making presentations, taking notes, and ensuring that all runs smoothly. After the meeting there is a debriefing to review what was achieved and to check on further action.
