Synopsis
A candid portrait of life aboard HMS Eagle sailing from Mombassa to Singapore in 1966, under the command of Captain John Roxburgh. Creates an impressionistic picture of life aboard HMS Eagle, using minimalist commentary, live sound and ingenious camerawork and editing. Shows various aspects of life on board the ship: men are woken from their bunks by the call hands; Sea Vixens and Buccaneers are launched; the Executive officer on his weekly inspection of messdecks; officers somersaulting over lines of arm chairs in the wardroom - part of the monthly ‘Saturday Night at Sea’; 849Ds COD.4 Gannet flies in the mail; issue of rum ration.
