Housing Solutions
- Synopsis
- Made as a sequel to Edgar Anstey’s film HOUSING PROBLEMS (1935) telling the story of slum clearnaces in London and the construction of new blocks of flats seen as a solution to the housing problem. Just over 50 years later those dream homes of yesterday’s planners turned into nightmares for the families moving into them. This film shows the updating and improvement of one particular block of flats, Lea View House in Hackney, the last to be built before World War 2, and illusrates how architects and builders worked closely with tenants to renovate the properties.
