Synopsis
1: Discusses autoimmune haemolytic anaemia and thyratoxicosis and fatal drug-induced immunosuppression. The post-mortem shows jaundice, obesity and striae in Cushing’s syndrome, Erythropoietic hyperplasia of femoral marrow in autoimmune haemolytic anaemia; thyroid hyperplasia (gross and micro) in thyrotoxicosis; myocardial hypertrophy; steroid-induced adrenocortical atrophy; Vertebral osteoporosis with crush fracture; Bronchus showing inhaled gastric contents.
2: Shows how and why a post-mortem is performed; purpose; permission; clinical history; external examination, incision and evisceration of body; longitudinal section of vertebrae; normal ventricles, cardiac valves and coronary arteries; tissue sample for histology; larynx and vocal cords; thyroid gland; inferior vena cava; normal aorta and its branches; adrenal, kidney and ureter; normal gall bladder, oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, papilla of Vater, common bile duct, liver, hepatic and portal veins, pancreas, ovaries, uterus, cervix, vagina, bladder and ureteric orifices.
