Ho, The: People of the Rice Pot

Synopsis
Focuses on the life of one man, his two wives and seven children in order to portray the yearly cycle of the Ho people, a secluded tribe of the Mundari-speaking group living in the southern part of Bihar State in India. Subsistence activities such as foraging in the forest and harvesting rice, and ritual and ceremonial activities are shown. Also discusses the Hos’ attitudes and relations to other groups and the effects of a nearby mine on the village economy. Note: The film-makers carried out fieldwork among the Ho.
