- In 1935 Leni Riefenstahl was approached by the president of the German Olympic Committee to make a film of the 1936 Berlin games, which were being staged by Goebbels as a giant propaganda exercise. Using 44 cameramen and a staff of hundreds Riefenstahl shot over 300,000 feet of film.
