Head Injuries: The First Hour

Synopsis
A couple involved in a car crash both received head injuries. One is unconscious; the other is confused. Part 1 shows how they are treated at the roadside and then in the hospital accident and emergency department. Paret 2 deals with the treatment priorities, adverse factors affecting brain injury, the difference between intacranial and extracranial cause of deterioration, and the need for continued careful observation of the patient. The key message: if the conscious level falls, the brain is in trouble.
