- Synopsis
- Deals with the imminent return of Halley’s comet which was due (during winter 1985-6) to make its closest approach to earth since 1910. Describes how Edmund Halley discovered the comet in 1682 and looks at how advances in technology can help gather information on the composition and behaviour of comets. Astronomers involved in the debate include Don Yeomans, Fred Whipple, Jan Oort and Bob Farquhar.
