Gypsies: A People Apart

Synopsis
One group of Rom Gypsies who live near San Francisco, California, maintain the boundary between themselves and non-gypsies with whom they have contact. One practical way of maintaining separateness is to use a leader as an intermediary between the group and the outside world. Even when celebrating what looks like a very American festival of Thanksgiving, behind the scenes much of what goes on is designed to keep them separate from the ‘outsiders’.
