Guardians of Chaos

Synopsis
A programme marking the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. Michael Ignatieff travels with the UN Secretary General, Dr Boutros Boutros-Ghali, through Rwanda, Angola, Zaire and Burundi and discusses with him what internationalism means at the end of the 20th century and what role we want our UN ‘guardians’ to play as the world spins out of control. At the same time in the former Yugoslavia, the authority of the UN continues to be eroded.
