Groundwater
- Synopsis
- With the aim of linking issues in science, technology, society and the environment, looks at groundwater, noting that more water is being used than can be replenished by natural processes, and sources of water are being contaminated by industry, agriculture and landfills. In the USA water quality is a state or local concern, but water in aquifers can cross boundaries. New ways of sealing landfills and testing water are being developed, but cleaning up contaminated aquifers is expensive and not totally reliable.
