Animated Motion Frame by Frame (5 Parts)

Synopsis
Five films in which Norman McLaren comments on, demonstrates and classifies the aspects of motion which the animator employs in his daily work. Part 1 explains how the animator makes his still pictures move. The range of tempos most likely to be used is detailed. Part 2 presents constant, accelerated and decelerated motion. Part 3 examines zero and irregular motion. Part 4 looks at composite motion and the motions of jointed or pivotal parts. A human gesture with increasing amounts of emotion is described, as is ‘strobing’. Part 5 discusses the change in the amount and colour of light with an otherwise static screen.
