- Video-based teaching package based on the 1999 BBC adaptation of ‘Great Expectations’, which, in discussing the film, also studies Dickens himself, the nature of adaptation and the original novel. Also examines key social, historical and political elements including topics such as child abuse, the apprenticeship system, social class, expectations of women, and crime and the law. Also includes clips from four different adaptations: David Lean (1946), BBC (1958 and 1981), and Tony Marchant (BBC 1999).
