Grass

Alternative title
Grass: A Nation’s Battle for Life
Synopsis
In 1924 filmmakers Cooper and Schoedsack joined forces with journalist and sometime spy Harrison to film the Follows the annual migration of the nomadic Bakhtiari tribe of east Persia in search of grass for their flocks and herds. Twice a year more than 20,000 barefoot men, women and children and half a million animals surmount seemingly impossible obstacles to take their herds to pasture. In the course of the journey they have to climb the 15,000-foot rock face of the Zardeh Kuh mountain with bare feet, swim the wide and fast-flowing Karun river where many drown, and cross snow-covered mountains with all their possessions; the women have babies strapped to their backs.
