Good Neighbours: Meeting Opposition in the Back Yard
- Synopsis
- A training video exploring models of good practice when developing mental health services within the community. Looks at neighbourhood opposition to community-based mental health services from the viewpoints of the providers, the neighbours and the service users. Shows a range of approaches to neighbourhood consultation and looks at strategies for working with local communities, agencies and the media. Features a variety of services in different environments: a voluntary organisation setting up a small supported home in rural East Suffolk; a user-led club in Birmingham; a large facility in an affluent neighbourhood near Shenley in Hertfordshire; and a statutory-sector day centre in inner London.
