Ghost of Salisbury Plain, The

Synopsis
On 17 December 1943 the ancient Wiltshire village of Imber was evacuated for use by the US troops preparing for the D-Day landings. Fifty years later, Imber is still a military training ground, in the middle of a large firing range. but despite all attempts by the authorities to kill the issue, Imber is far from forgotten. As one campaigner said, ‘This is a thing which a democratic state should never, ever have done.'
