Geometry and Perspective

Synopsis
Recording of a lecture given by Professor E C Zeeman as part of the London Mathematical Society’s Popular Lecture Series. It explains the vanishing points and observation points of perspective and proves the underlying theorems in three-dimensional Euclidean geometry. The results are illustrated with Renaissance paintings and a reconstruction of Brunelleschi’s original experiment demonstrating his discovery of perspective in 1420.
