Genetics and Plant Breeding
- Synopsis
- Shows how Mendel first elucidated the mathematical laws of inheritance. It explains how the passage of dominant and recessive characteristics from one generation to another depends on discreet particles of matter, particles we now know to be the genes on the chromosomes in the nucleus of the cell. Illustrates the way in which present day knowledge of genetics is used by the plant breeder to produce new varieties for particular needs.
