Gastrulation and Neurulation in the Amphibian Embryo ('Xenopus Laevis’)
- Synopsis
- Gastrulation and neurulation are studied by time-lapse sequences, stereoscan (3-dimensional) pictures of the cell surfaces and by sections examined under both the light and the transmission electron microscope, aided by orientation diagrams. Final sequence shows the transplantation of the dorsal lip of the blastopore resulting in the induction of a second embryonic axis illustrated in the film by time-lapse sequence of the formation of two neural plates.
