Synopsis
One of Garrickā€™s last great acts of patronage was to employ Philip de Loutherbourg as his principal scenic artist at Drury Lane in 1772. Explores the origins, nature and results of this collaboration, focussing upon the cultural and theatrical implications of a changing aesthetic of theatre.
