Further Approaches to Learning

Synopsis
Following on from the world of pure reflexes and responses, explores alternative approaches and explanations of learning such as ethology, neuroscience, social learning, latent learning, insight, and learning sets. Includes archive footage of B F Skinner and Dr Robert Epstein who demonstrate apparent ‘insight’ learning in pigeons who can build boxes and peck at bananas like Kohler’s chimpanzees. Skinner, speaking just before his death, claims that reinforcement rather than higher mental precesses are at work in learning.
