Fundi: The Story of Ella Baker

Synopsis
Using the life of Ella Baker as a connecting thread, traces the history of the US civil rights movement from the 1940s to the 1960s. Ella Baker’s political career was intertwined with most of the events of the modern black movement: NAACP organising efforts after the second world war, the SCLC and the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955-56, and most decisively, SNCC’s role in the lunch counter sit-ins of the late 1950s, the violent struggles in Birmingham in 1963 and the voter registration drives after 1964.
