Synopsis
When this programme was filmed Austin Rover had completed the design on their K-series engine and had just commissioned the assembly line. Discusses the design philosophy behind the engine leading to the choice of manufacturing process. Developed through a series of interviews with shots of laser welding, the K-series assembly line, and gearbox manufacture. Forming processes - casting and forging - are illustrated.
