From Chaos to Hope

Synopsis: As in many developing countries, the people of Dar es Salaam, Tanznia, lived in a city which was on the edge of financial and environmental chaos. The cost of all this urban mismanagement was borne by the children: water-borne diseases and malaria were rampant. But now, by encouraging partnerships with the private sector and community groups, the government is managing to upgrade squatter settlements as well as the city centre and help the city to move from chaos to hope.
