Synopsis
Looks at four recessively inherited disorders relevant to multi-ethnic communities - cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disorders, thalassaemia and Tay-Sachs disease. it features services available to the primary health care team so that they can provide information, tests, and counselling to those at risk of being healthy carriers for these conditions. Choices and resources available to at-risk couples are indicated, and the role of voluntary organisations is discusses.
