- Synopsis
- Amina Ahmed Abdullah is a trained midwife working in the huge Hatashiek refugee camp in the Somali region of Ethiopia, where infibulation (the most extreme form of female genital mutilation) is widely practiced, The film relates how, in 1997 with backing from the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), she launched and carried ou a campaign to eradicate the practice, working with schoolchildren, women’s groups, religious leaders and the circumcisors themselves.
