Frog Gastrocnemius Muscle, The Sciatic Nerve Preparation
- Synopsis
- A classic physiological model used to introduce the principles of nerve conduction and skeletal muscle contraction. Looks at the structure and recruitment of motor units; the generation of tetanic contraction to yield fused smooth responses in skeletal muscles; summation of muscular contractions; nerve and muscle fatigue; the velocity of nerve impulse conduction. Animations are used throughout, and the package includes a simulated stimulator and nerve/muscle preparation for exploring the effects of increasing voltage and frequency. Approximately 3 hours of teaching material.
