Using high-speed photography, explains the basic principle of friction welding in detail and shows several production examples. The industrial applications range from automobile parts, chemical plant, defence installations, electrical apparatus to microfriction welded nuclear instrumentation components. Also shows inertia welding, a variant of the basic process. Ends with a demonstration of friction welding under water.*
