- This group of paintings from the collection of Leeds City Art Galleries represents the development of French landscape painting in the 19th century, which is set in the context of the theories of the Academy and development in public taste and patronage. The works range from paintings by Corot, Daubigny and Courbet, to the Impressionists, represented by Pissarro and Sisley, to early 20th-century works by Picabia, Derain and Marquet.
