And What Does Your Mother Do?

Synopsis

A comedy dealing with society’s refusal to recognise the contribution of housewives, and accept domestic commitments as work. The protagonist is a woman who rushes around the house in the morning getting the children ready for school and preparing breakfast and lunch boxes. The only dialogue comes at the end when another child asks one of the children ‘What does your father do?' ‘He is an accountant,' he replies. ‘And what does your mother do?' ‘Nothing, she stays at home.'
