Football with Attitude

Synopsis
Three slide sets based on an exhibition and book produced by the Institute for Popular Culture at the Manchester Metropolitan University. The images trace the highly visible new fan culture together with the trends in pop and youth culture which the global media call ‘Madchester’. The slides concentrate on three separate areas: fashions and visual identity of the fans, the more traditional graphics of club programmes and banners, and the recent phenomenon of small press ‘fanzines’ designed and written by the fans themselves.
